So what has 730+ days of advertising on Facebook and Instagram taught me?

This stuff is hard. Harder than most anything I’ve ever done. Specifically for any business in their first 1-3 years of operations. But why? Why in the world is it SO HARD to sell products online. Why is it even harder to give them away?

It’s simple really. The two differences between a business that has been operating successfully for 5-10 years versus one that’s just starting is usually the same.

01. Have some skin in the game.

If you’ve been operating for 5-10 years, there is a much better chance that you’ve developed a list of customers, a menu of products, and a successful sales mechanism that has both simplified your sales process and created a clear path for excellent customer experience. When I first sit down with a client, these are the first things I ask. If you have a reliable process now, then the odds of seeing similar results online are pretty high.

02. See advertising as a investment — not a cost.

You see advertising as an investment and not a cost. I’ll raise my hand here and say that when I first started this was my biggest issue. I never considered the cost of customer acquisition. It’s never free. It’s never easy.

Every time I meet a successful business owner, that’s my first thought. How? What did they do to get to this level?

Every time I meet a successful business owner, that’s my first thought. How? What did they do to get to this level? When I ask, it’s always the same. The business owner says they’ve invested thousands and thousands of dollars into advertising for years upon years. They gave stuff away, discounted products, paid upwards to 15k for a billboard. They tried everything.

Eventually, they developed a process and customer demographic that they knew how to speak to and serve. When I sit down with owners like that convincing them that paid ads are an excellent investment is almost effortless. They’ve usually invested upwards to 250k already.

They get it. As business owners, it’s never easy. It’s even harder when you’re trying to find new customers. I’ve seen people invest some serious cash before they found a win that made since. But damn.. when they find that win it’s worth every penny invested.

A lot of people ask me why I jumped ship from a 10-year career as a graphics and web designer. It’s simple. All those skills sets never made sense without the ability to send thousands of customers to them each day.

That’s why I advertise, and that’s why I NEVER take startups that aren’t ready to invest 6-12 months finding their wins.

It’s always the same outcome, and that’s ok. That’s why I wrote this extremely long post. I won’t leave you without some value and personal advice. I want anyone that’s just starting and looking to run ads to steer clear.

Here are some suggestions before you decide to invest in advertising campaigns:

01. You need to get your sales mechanism locked 🔒 in place.

02. You need to make at least 1000 sales.

03. You need to know WHO your customer is and WHY they buy your products or service.

Figuring these three crucial things out will make your chances of having a successful advertising campaign skyrocket.

Now if you made it this far then bravo 👏🏻 I have a special offer for you.

Before any successful Ad campaign can run its course, I need to set up some code on your website or Shopify.

It’s called a pixel. It’s the holy grail of advertising data and everything you need to fire off some pretty powerful campaigns.

I want to set it up for free. Ether in person or via video chat!

After we set up your pixel, it will start collecting data on everyone that comes to your website, your Facebook/Instagram pages, and your posts!

You can then take that same data and serve customers that already know you with advertisements!

How do you take advantage? Easy! Fill out this form!

**Due to the amount of time and effort it can take to set up a Facebook pixel properly I can only offer this service to 20 businesses a month**
